If you think that's bad, you need to see some titles for tokusatsu shows. It's been joked that if The Empire Strikes Back was a Japanese TV series, it would be titled "Duel in the clouds. Vader is Luke's father!?".

This is never a problem for anime in the UK. Half the time they cut out eye-catchers, episode previews and other extras. It's a wonder we even got who's that pokemon

It was effectively an eyecatcher of sorts though, every show got them, every 4kids one at least. Even Beyblade had some but I never saw them until seeing US broadcast versions of the show.

"Mysterious", assisting for her own "reasons" and outright telling us she will be heavily involved in the plot.

Supposedly many anime directors believe being as straightforward as possible with next episode previews will make viewers more likely to watch next week, even if they outright spoil a character dying or something.

I guess saying "x character is probably gonna die" is more attention grabbing than "the good guys fight the bad guys some more I guess".

Most anime series are based on comics and books that have been around for years already. The audience aren't watching to see what happens next, they're watching to see the material they're already familiar with animated and voiced.
"Spoiling" episode previews simply help show which portion of the story is getting adapted next week

Nothing like that.

Japanese love being 'spoiled' on things, it gives them more interest in watching. For example Japanese movie trailers very often showcase the entire movie and plot.
