Don't you think a desert region would be kinda dull and bleak? What's to explore in the desert besides fossils and ancient builldings? Ground is one of my favorite types, but a region mostly filled with it and cactus mons would be... Meh. Besides, most boring trainer classes as well.

You guys should really both familiarize yourself with actual deserts, and also understand that if tropical regions have deserts, than desert regions can have other things.

The Mojave Desert is a good example. There's actually quite a wide variety of areas, from Lake Mead and the Colorado River, to the snow-capped Mt. Charleston. Plus, of course, Vegas.

Not all of Hoenn was water and jungle, either.

Colosseum missed out on the opportunity to have Pokemon Battles on Motorcycles while traveling between cities.

Game Freak doesn't even make all of the games. Genius Sonority and Hal Laboratory both made games compatible with other main series games. They games all have to exist in the same "universe" or whatever by both definition and application.
