Well "jump the shark" means something that's done to spice things up, but only comes off as dumb
And i think there's no doubt the biggest "spiceup" we've seen is Megas in Gen6, but if it's dumb or not is widely disagreed upon

Gen6 in general. No particular game. The overall casualization, new exp share, remake with removed features, etc is the shark jump. Trying to appeal to younger kids.

Even if you didn't like Gen 5, nothing about it jumped the shark at all. All it did was add new Pokemon.

Around the time of Gen 3. I'm not saying Gen 3 was bad but I would place that as the beginning of the decline. No trading up, no night palette, dropped features. Then came Gen 4 and with it Lucario, Pokegods, canon pokepillia, etc.
Since then, it's been a slow death from gimmickry, dropped features, casualization, and retarded ashime references.

Megas are objectively the only mechanic that was significant and yet also gimmicky (in the sense that it really pushes the envelope or drastically challenges the established concept of pokemon battling) to count as "jumping the shark" so Gen 6

I love the region and the new pokemon but the casualization is getting the point where children (even my kid sister complains about this) find it too easy.
