>>26897179I don't think this design does Torterra justice. It's not bad, but definitely not perfect.
I would have recommended Solid Rock, but how about an OC ability?
Terraforming: Grassy Terrain is always in effect/in effect for 5 turns upon switch-in. Now, what Grassy Terrain does is it 1.5x Grass type moves and heals grounded pokemon by 1/16 HP each turn; however, it halves the power of Bulldoze, Magnitude, and Earthquake. What this means is that Torterra gets 2.0x power on Grass type moves like Wood Hammer and Leaf Storm, but Earthquake is nearly worthless.
This sounds like shit until you consider the possibilities. First, if you gave a boost to Torterra's SpA, then it could reasonably run Earth Power instead, which does not get cut power. In fact, Mega-Torterra could be more of a mixed attacker, or at least finally get viable enough stats to be a special attacker instead. With Earth Power and Leaf Storm on deck, one could pick up a Hidden Power and maybe one physical move or a status move and be good to go.
But just imagine: Wood Hammer doesn't do 120 damage, nor 180 damage, but 240 damage—just from abilities alone, not even taking into account type effectiveness. This kind of number is even above STAB Facade in terms of damage, at 210 with no possibility for super affecting anything.
I would make some tweaks to your stat allocation accordingly, but overall this is the idea I'm getting at. I think there should be abilities that incorporate these shitty Terrains that nobody ever uses as moves. Mega-Aromatisse with an ability that summons Misty Terrain, for instance.
