>>26925402The community managed to break past the 1-byte limit for Red a few months ago, but no major hacks have been made with it yet. Crystal still has that limit though, and the max you'll see in a Crystal hack is 253 (256, minus two slots used for game functions, minus one for the Egg).
I know Red++ was going to add the expanded Pokédex to its code eventually, but it's not close to hitting the 255 limit anyway so I don't think it would cause any major expansion to its roster.
