>>26948348The problem is she didn't do much. While I liked the idea of her not knowing what (and if) to do besides Rhyhorn racing, they spent too little time with her experiencing the tripokalon life. She didn't show that she learned as much as May and Dawn did through contests. Speaking of, let me compare her to May. They both got their pokemon, they both disliked battles, and they both found something more their style to participate in. The only problem is Serena spent a fuckton of time doing it, leaving little to no room for her to grow in the same way. She just said "Hey I'm doing this now" and won all three with barely any struggles. Yes, I did enjoy the scene where she cut her hair to show her determination, that doesn't excuse how quickly everything wrapped up afterwards. And I get it, it's hard to focus on so many characters equally. Clement and Bonnie, heck even Puni-cham, have developed into nice complex characters in a way Max and Brock didn't. What I'm trying to say is, her sharing the roster with other characters didn't let her express herself as much as other characters have done, something which could be avoided in the next season if Ash's travel party is smaller
or includes Serena and builds on what has already been established
