>>26955995This. I mean, fuck. None of the Wurmple line share their colors and patterns in common. Wurmple doesn't share anything in common with any of its evolution design-wise. Only the branched evolutions share design elements, and not colors, with any other evolution and only with their counterparts. Hell, none of them even share eyes in common. Caterpie and Metapod are both green, but otherwise completely dissimilar design-wise. Same with the Weedle line, despite them all being some shade of yellowish. This is all because of the drastic changes between the life stages of the animals they're based on, and should've been expected with a grub.
Chajabug being a cube is a bit odd, but a nice bit of fresh air to the repetition of these designs after a bunch of similarly shaped middle stage bugs. Considering it's also a battery, it's a good confluence of the general shape of beetle pupae (all folded up) and square batteries.
I'm just wondering if it's ability will see further distribution. It's a bit odd to give a middle stage Pokemon a unique ability that only works in formats you're unlikely to see in-game while using it. Then again, GameFreak does like to put concept ahead of sensible mechanics.
