OP nothing is saying it can't have a Mega, it just doesn't have one yet. It's been three years since Mega's were revealed and only around 50 Pokemon actually have Mega's out of the 745+ we currently have, give them some time.

There was a thread yesterday, where an insider said a lot of Pokémon are getting megas, including machamp and golem. Machamp is steel/fight with iron fists, and golem is rock/fire

Rock is only good on offense
However most rock mons have defensive design
Thus a good rock mon needs to either be a powerhouse, or not rock type

It's slightly better than Golem, though, isn't it? More HP, more Sp. Def, higher Attack, and has Sand Force (aside from Sturdy, which they both have, Golem has two other fairly pointless abilities in Rock Head and Sand Veil).

It has fewer weaknesses and no x4 weaknesses although no Electric immunity. Why is Golem so much better?
