>>27014932Mythfagging here, could be completely unrelated to the design, but these things were usually portrayed as seductresses in old Hawaii. Thats the only similarity though. They would change shape to kill and eat you and were water spirits, and were geckos/ giant lizards. Maybe they just added the first part into the jumble of European salamander mythos.
