Emboar is one of those Pokemon with a perfectly good core design that got ruined by an artist not knowing when to quit. If you removed all the yellow details it would look awesome.

Of course, it would still be shit in-game, but whatever.

Tepig's alright. Acceptably cute for a starter Pokemon. Pignite's kind of awful, but he's hardly the worst middle stage for a starter (that honour falls to Quilladin). I never quite got why people disliked Emboar though. He's my favourite of Unova's starters, and of all the Fire/Fighting starters we have he's probably my favourite of the bunch.

That's wrong, Anon. Serperior is a cool design, and Samurott is even better and one of the coolest water starter concepts of all. But they're slightly ruined by their bad typings, stats and movepools (Contrary Serperior not so much), and completely ruined by being lumped with Shitboar.
