Ash won't lose this time, team flare will interrupt the league finals and destroy the stadium, postponing things to a year later or something. Ash will promise to come back or something, after dealing with Team Flare, goes to the next region in the meantime, but never actually goes back to Kalos.

Nothing saying he can't continue his journey even if he wins a League. Besides, there's a good chance the finals will be interrupted, and even if not, he's not beating a serious Diantha who's using all 6 of her Pokemon. He'll just move onto the next region anyway.

Speaking of which, I wonder if we'll ever see another Battle Frontier arc again where he actively brings back his other Pokemon for battles. The last two leagues haven't done so at least.

No one actually knows what the requirements of being a Pokemon Master is, it can't even be certain that Ash knows what they are. It could be to capture every single Pokemon (excluding Legendaries and Mythicals I suppose), beating every gym in a region (which he's done 6 times now), beating a League tournament, defeating the Elite Four and Champion, among other things I'm sure. So even if he wins a League tournament he would still have a LONG way to go before becoming a Master, so if he wins the Kalos League he isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Well the Orange league wasn't really a league. Ash had to beat 4 gym leaders but at certain tasks with their Pokemom.

That goes for most regions considering basically only Kanto era things are occasionally referenced. Lapras even showed up in Johto, and the presence of the trophy and Tracy are enough tp say that the OL is canon in the anime. It's not like Ash ever references his accomplishments in previous Leagues.

The Pokemon anime is a fun show. Nobody is saying its some plot driven masterpiece, but it has likeable characters, good battles, some nice pokemon, and some fun character interaction.

I'd say Team Rocket is the only low point of the modern anime.

Said that there's no league and the player character has to go around recruiting gym leaders or whatever. They could easily insert Ash for the part and have Luna do whatever the fuck the side content is for SM, or maybe even have Ash play an even bigger mentor role than he did in XY and support Luna with starting up the league.
