There's a difference between simplistic in the gen 1 sense (basically looking like they could be real world animals but with a slight inventive twist) and TOO simplistic in the sense that the Pink Panda just looks like perfectly rounded shapes that were stuck together arbitrarily. It looks almost like a balloon animal or something.

Shuppet is the same doll every time. All those pokemon wearing the exact same clothes. And besides Pikachu merch is the teddy bear of the pokemon world, even the real world has enough to make this shit feasible.

As for the red panda, it is supposed to be based on a theme park mascot that you want to hug. Acquire taste, or at least basic design sense.

The bear is amazing. It's literally my mom's red panda but pink instead of orange. It's the epitome of what people have been fucking asking for since gen 1; looks almost exactly like the animal it's based on, no unnecessary/stupid random shapes or spikes. I'm glad the pikachu merch mon exists though. It's the first ever meta pokemon, its design literally says the pikachu merch was popular "20 years ago." The best part is it was still given a description that justifies it as an actual pokemon instead of just being a meta reference mon.

Still not sure what the fuck is up with the bear, though. People saying it's supposed to be a mascot seems more like they are going, "Oh! Yeah! It's INTENTIONALLY bad looking because it's clearly a mascot!"

the bear is supposed to look uncanny, I think. it's apparently incredibly dangerous and known for tearing shit in half.

the design itself is shit, but I think it fits the lore quite nicely.
