If you look pretty good, it's wearing something related to what's in right now; if you look like unkempt shit, it's just somewhat disconcerting. If you're a socially capable enough person, people may look the other way; if you're a public recluse/massive dick, you get labelled as special needs and/or a total creep, respectively.

It's a massive reason why, despite how insanely cancerous it is, /vp/ is just a vastly more interesting place to be imho.
