Lucha Chu should of been Hawlucha and normal Mewtwo could be almost any psychic mon. Mario doesn't have many centeral characters to begin with. You have the standard 7 centeral humans, Bowser and Bowser jnr, DK, Yoshi and Toad. The rest are Maybe henchmen men, one of game characters. My point is Mario doesn't really need a massive over saturated cast since there's like 12 centeral characters and with the exception of Bowser jnr, they all got justice, the rest of Mario Kart 8 is a Willy nilly mess of babies, whopalings and skin swaps, where as there are many, many Pokemon that are deserving as a fighter that are demoted to background or assist

The devs specifically said they avoided greninja because "it'd be too easy a choice".

Also, sceptile is already the tokken ninja pokemon. He has an inzuma drop and a log shadow clone move and everything

Over half the roster is "Too easy a choice". I'm pretty convinced that they simply didn't know he'd become THE most popular pokemon in Japan, so they pushed back for a while considering Sceptile already filled his Niche for some weird reason.

Anyway, i'm sure they realize that by now it's too late to actually add him. The hype is pretty much gone and not even HE would re-ignite it much, so they're like SCREW IT LET'S JUST ADD WHATEVER COMES TO MIND.
