Honestly it's pretty good as far as grass starters go, is what I wanted to say then I remembered the only REALLY shitty one is Meganium, so the bar isn't as low as I seem to want think it is in my head, though Serperior is horrendous in-game and without Contrary

It's a snake and it's a grass type (meaning it has an elemental inclination). It was doomed from the start. Its stats are completely fucked though.

What the fuck were they thinking? Some kind of support pokemon? Samurott's stats are pretty inexplicable too. Emboar's stats are bad but at least they make sense.

Snakes have great movepools though. Seviper learns half the TM last. Serperior is an anomaly.

That's because it's poison type. Grass-types have horrid movepools because of being plants, but being a snake means it doesn't get anything using limbs or other appendages which is a lot of coverage moves.
