I don't like how Klefki gets hate, but Comfey isn't really the same class either - the flowers aren't part of its body. Comfey's lei isn't a part of its body, just something added on. Klefki meanwhile, even when the keys are removed, is still a creature that looks like a keyring, key, and keyhole

Klefki does fit into a Japanese game a fair bit, though - Even ignoring other gen 1 mons like the literal Pokeball, the eggs that are somehow not eggs, the other egg that has a smaller egg, the magnets, and so on, Japan has a lot of mythology about objects like umbrellas and sandals coming to life
