Turns out it's even worse the second time, since without the novelty factor you're left with a sequence of scripted events and little player agency. You can't go anywhere you want and, when you can, the alternative path you can take is cut off by something (first Snorlax, then a strenght boulder in the cave ahead). Shit's terrible.
