>>27294473Part of me agrees with this. Having an asshole rival was a good motivator, since it pushed you to put the cocky little shit in his place. When the rival is just your friendly buddy, victory and defeat aren't as big a deal.
But on the other hand, I kinda like that too. It shows that you can have competition and rivalry without being antagonistic.
