I've encountered about 20 shinies. The only other one I've lost was a nidoran I shoved in a pc box and forgot about. I later deleted that file but caught 2 more shiny nidorans in later playthroughs that I still have.

I've only ever run into shinies 3 times:

First was a Koffing in GSC when I was a kid. I didn't like Koffing and didn't know why it looked weird. I ran away.

Second was a Trapinch in Emerald. It was on an emulator.

Third was a Weedle in Y. I reset the game without trading it to another/putting it in PokeBank because I fucking hate Weedle.

when I first got Y, I decided to play it in french because the option was there plus it being france region and all. Shiny Slowpoke is dope, I probably hatched a few hundred slowpoke eggs before I rage quit.

I believe I caught a few shinies on X and Y before my brother reset my save when I was done with the game. And a shiny gengar that I got from here, not really sure if its legit tho. Not sure what the IVs look like

Second time was during breeding, trying to get a chespin with bulletproof and quick guard. At the current step, was aiming for one with perfect iv, nature and ability, not the final product, but it was also paired with a non english partner. Hatched a shiny without intention too, terrible nature and was not the nature i wanted to pass down. Nickname the chespin 'JackHarkness' and wonder traded it away

1. I found a shiny Golbat in Victory Road on my first pokemon game, Sapphire. I killed it because I didn't know what it was.

2. I figured out what shinies were, and went back to Victory Road in desperate hopes of finding another shiny Golbat. I did, and I evolved it into a Crobat.

3. Again, on Sapphire, I came across a shiny. It was an Oddish near the daycare, and I evolved it into a Bellossom.

4. I came across a shiny Onix in the Battle Tower on Emerald and promptly wept.

5. I caught a shiny Whismur on a Sapphire nuzlocke run years later, but my niece deleted the save data before I transferred it.

Randomly ran into a wild moody Snowrunt while trying to get the shell bell, has a bad nature -def +spdef, or the other way. Glad I kept kept it, its gonna be awesome in sun/mion. I chained for a porygon, which is now a porygon2, wasn't bold like my ralts, but timid works and I might try evoking to Z if trick is more viable in this gens meta.

Apparently I never finished OmegaRuby, so I begin to make towards the next town. See a Skarmory grass rustle. I love Skarmory, so I go towards it. Shiny Skarmory. Fucking what.

in pokemon crystal I met shiny oddish in the forest , then I somehow put it on my team as only one monster, then I used mystery gift with one of my buddies before he moved and forgot I have oddish in my team... he was leaved with shiny oddish in trainer house forever

upon the 4th reset, it was a Shiny and I reflexively used a Masterball on it and saved, not giving a shit about its IVs or nature. Once I checked it out though, it was actually Timid, with decent HP and Speed IVs, but dogshit everything else. Being a high school weeb, I gave it a weebtastic name I couldn't change once I outgrew that phase as I had transferred it up to Gen IV, but now I could dream of changing it as I've grown fond of it again.

And now I can train SHIN ORCA's dogshit IVs into absolute perfection

I've never played competitively and I don't breed Pokemon for IVs or anything but still, I'm sure there are lots of people who have never seen a shiny

My brother was in that cave in BW2 where Bianca follows you, and just fucking there he ended up encountering a shiny Woobat.
He wanted to catch it, obviously, but since you have to kill the other mon first in double battles, I told him to just use disable on the shiny since Bianca's AI will then probably not target her.
That worked, and then the faggot was hesitant on using the Masterball on it even though he never used the fucking thing in any goddamn game ever and threw the Quick Ball.
As you can imagine, Woobat got out, Bianca killed it, I gave him shit for it for a few years.
By the way, he still didn't use that Masterball in his BW2 save.
