On that regard, the mmega is perfect, it makes sableye able to stand his ground against opponents while keeping with his theme of being weak. He keeps the gem aspect, albeit more tangential, and the mischeviousnes oozes from his ability and animations always doing quick strikes from behing his gem, never getting out and being a dick if you try to fuck with him back.
Your design ruins everything sableye stands for, maybe except for the gems.
