I don't really think most people would approve of genetically engineering waifus, as feminists and the like would lash out and stop that from happening.
AI and Speech Recognition is however only getting better with software such as the IBM Watson recently being realised.
And while the current headsets may be a nuance and quite ineffective, with better GPU's, Screens and shit like Foveated rendering coming out, it's going to drastically improve.
Also, there's a shitton of cash to be made if someone can find a way to simulate touch, so there's plenty of research in that direction, too.
That being said, the scepticism is completely justified as what we have now is barely immersive.
And anon, having genetically engineered waifus is a good thing, but then I'm still confined to this shithole.
