Sure, alright.
Civ stuff:
>The Pokemon games take place after one of the largest, most globalized "world wars" their world had ever seen.
>It ended in a terrible Pyrrhic victory for almost everyone involved, but largely shaped the modern day "pokemon culture" we see today: Children catching pokemon, old men and women the socialistic, military-based government with the elite four at the center of it and the impeccable technology.
>Regions aren't "discovered", so much as treaties are being written and published in real time to allow travel, immigration, etc.
>The Pokemon world is teetering on the age of "post-scarcity" where people no longer need to nor are they expected to work thanks to the means of production being entirely automated, all sources of energy are renewable and their ability to convert energy into matter and vice versa.
>Most Crime is based around boot-legging, gambling/anti-social behavior, abuse, patent theft and old-age terrorism inspired by outdated ideals persisting in a society that takes advantage of a naive and uninspired population of youths and children whom have known nothing but comfort and luxury.
>Silph Corp is contracted by the government and owns the "name-brand" pokemarts in the following regions: Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh & Hoen.
>Silph Corp is also responsible for almost all of the pokeball production in these regions with the exception of Johto where they still make a few of them by hand as artisan items.
>Kalos & Unova are the only regions (so far) where Silph Corp is NOT contracted or within: they make their own pokeballs and their pokemarts are more like a public/communist business.
>All large businesses in the pokemon world are provided or contracted by the government right down to controlled availability and prices. Luxury goods being "luxury" usually not due to scarcity but controlled availability.
>Cottage industries however still THRIVE in this economic environment thanks to the luxury/novelty of hand made products.
