This will give you a good idea of how the games and story prgressed while still having the modern pokemon conventions, (i.e Abilities, weather, Natures, Dark and steel types, etc.) Otherwise, just start from the beginning and just play the third versions up to Black and White, (Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum)
