My first game was Silver and I only used 3 mons since they became so overleveled everything else I tried to catch and use felt way too weak.

OP here, I don't name them any more, either.

I just loaded up my Gen III cartridges to see what Pokemon I had used in the past, so that I could construct a new team in Alpha Sapphire that didn't contain any Pokemon that I had used for previous runs. I cringed when I saw those names.

I tried to do themes. some I did were like: Godzilla Monsters (that pidgeot named Rodan) , Music Terms (due to megaman probably) ((I still name most of my starers Rock and then another pokemon Roll) , Sodas (I had a typhlosion called Dr. Pepper- i remember that much), ect.

I think i usually defaulted to naming like fucking richie from the anime though, and still kinda do
