I think I had a level 3 pidgey on my team too, that was it.

My second run through is way more memorable though, I literally went through the entire game with only MUSCLE with three elemental punches and Cross Chop. He was my second level 100(after Feraligatr).

I ended up learning the clone glitch, but I fucked it up at some point and all my Pokemon's nicknames got switched around. MUSCLE's nickname got switched to KAKUNA, and I couldn't change it back because he was a traded mon.

The only thing I remember was having a Hypno and a Beedrill in my team back in Red.

Hypno was a fucking workhorse in that, pretty much the entire E4-Champ battles consisted of Hypnosis/Dream Eater.

I remember teaching my rapidash fire blast based on Blaine's advice once he gives it to you. I was also a good 70 hours into the game before I ever touched the elite 4.

After school all I did was turn on the gb pocket then aimlessly explore and wandering, while catching them all. the butterfree was for sleep powder to make catching easier and I think the farfetch'd was because I needed something that could fly.

When I initially got to the elite four back then I distinctly remember being grossly overleveled around 80+ or so and completely stomped it with Charizard, Jolteon and Lapras.

When the first games came out you'd get your ass kicked after school if you used them against other kids. I'm still conditioned not to used them. Even later in life all my friends considered it an instant forfeit if a legendary was in your party because of ancient schoolyard shenanigans.

Yup, here's an image of all of the teams starting with the GBA games. There's some holes from trading old winners to myself in new games.

Oh, and as an add-on to this, I knocked out both Snorlaxes thinking they weren't catchable and did the same to Mewtwo thinking he was the final boss of the game.

Told my cousin at breakfast (we were on holiday somewhere) and he told me I was a fucking idiot and showed me his Snorlax so I immediately restarted the game.

That's what I ended up doing in Gen 3.

Technically my cousin did also play the game but couldn't trade because he'd broken his link-cable port by getting blu tack stuck in it somehow.

Yeah me and my cousin ended up doing that for Gold and Silver once we both got GameBoy Colours.

It felt like it took hours. Obviously, me being the younger cousin, I had to be the one to get all the starters while he caught 5 pidgeys and watched DragonBall.

Too stupid as a kid to beat the elite four, until Ruby came out.
I basically only leveled blaziken and one shot everything. I remember having a regice on the team as well which I used to faint the salmance. Besides that I honestly couldnt tell you who I had.

I know a lot of people that did that as a kid, but I don't get it. Doesn't it kill the RP factor of the RPG? Did it really feel good as a kid to only really have one pokemon instead of a team of bros?
