Were they scared of unique typings until Gen 5? I feel like so many older Pokemon that could've used more had single typings and were forgotten in the dust. Sunflora should've been part fire, Dunsparce should've been part ground, Sudowoodo should've had SOMETHING, whether it actually being grass or not. The list goes on. Even some newer ones missed opportunities to have duel or more unique typings like the Floette line.
