Likewise, the new Pokemon Bounsweet is based off of a mangosteen, despite the fact that the Magost Berry exists
The existence of the various berries doesn't prevent actual real-world fruit from existing at all. Likewise, Pokemon don't prevent real-world animals from existing either. It's just that things like that are out of focus.
As such, they don't need to change their design at all, because a Pokemon based off of an apple can still easily exist
