Kanto has boring landscape and it's generally very grindy, however Pokemon that are available here are very nice. Also, this region has level issues because of it's non-linearity.
Johto has many pleasant areas and charming atmosphere that I appreciate, although it has problems with levels as well. Pokemon distribution is kinda weird too.
Hoenn is a mishmash of many different landscapes which keep it from being boring but emphasis on water routes is quite annoying. It's Pokedex is below average too.
Sinnoh is another region that feels very luring with its plethora of natural places (especially when you consider how DPP tried to expand on the lore). I don't quite remember its Pokedex but I also don't remember complaining about it.
Unova 1 is very linear but its areas are solidly made making them more interesting (Village Bridge for example). Its Pokedex, similarly to Kanto, felt fresh and big. I liked that.
Kalos consists of many different looking areas (reminding me of Hoenn) and I feel like it pulled that "tourism feel" really well. Its Pokedex is very big and introduced Pokemon are above average.
My favourite regions are Johto and Sinnoh while least favourite would be Kanto (and maybe Hoenn due to available Pokemon).
