Hey /vp/. Quick question, how do I familiarize myself with Pokemon?

I've been out of the loop for a long time now and just started playing Fire Red to get back into it. I miss the series and I want to get back into it. What are your suggestions?

Playing the games is the best suggestion I can think of. Also checking out sites like Serebii helps or maybe following Pokemon tubers like Jwitts

Playin remakes is a pretty solid start. After FR, try playing HG or SS to get used to some of the later gen Pokemon. If you want to try to hit one game/gen, try BW2 then XY. Though really any of the games are easy enough to get into. Which games did you start with OP?
