Circumstantial, of course, but there are definitely some he wouldn't use. I second Krookodile, at least. Arcanine, since dogs are loyal and boy can it flamethrower everything around it. Or Rapidash. He'd probably conquer some dragons and pseudo legendaries, like Hydreigon and Tyranitar.
