I don't mean to trigger anyone's autism. Or start a mean spirited debate. I'm willing to change my opinion if strong enough reasoning is provided, but:
The developers have to develop new methods of evolution and expand the Pokemon universe every time they introduce something. Instead of just evolving Leafeon with a Leaf stone, they have to develop a completely new method for the sake of consistency.
Does this mean that EVERY PIKACHU before the heart-tail was a boy?
Why can't they just chill out and say, "You know what? We have new evolutions. Now, this Pokemon just evolves at this level, where it didn't before.
