Surprisingly XY can be very unfair in certain parts of the early game and is very unbalanced unless you're are over leveled.

The level 13 Kadabra/doubles with headbutt furfrous/Hawlucha with X scissor/all sky battles ect.

While the bosses are all piss easy

Most times nuzlockes make me like games more, it just made me realize X and Y's flaws

But if you remember to avoid the bushes/shrubs around Parfum Palace and River walk a good fairy can really carry it's weight. Also Drapion is super broken.

Either way don't do Crystal. The woods are full of Shuckle and they generally have toxic and sturdy. It's hell.

Platinum was a lot of fun, but it was a real challenge. Lots of spots for potential wipes, particularly everything from Candice to Cyrus.

I had the easiest time with Soul Silver, but the level curve was annoying.

But to honest, my favorite was Black - tons of Pokemon variety, and just enough challenge spots to stay interesting.

Don't do Gen 5.

My first nuzlocke I did was Black 2 with challenge mode enabled. I did this on a DS at the time, so no emulator. Grinding to kill audinos was a constant, and fucking burgh dropped my whole team except my magby with fucking rock blast.

Platinum was the first game I nuzlocked, it's pretty fun to nuzlocke.
Good amount of challenges.
I tried to nuzlocke Black and Black 2, they were so easy that it felt like a boring slow chore, I gave up on both.

I stopped playing once I reached Mistralton city, maybe it got harder after that, but everything before that was way too easy.
I didn't lose a single pokemon until the Pokemon World Tournament section.
I don't ever overlevel either.
