But there was no pokemon asleep on the field yet.
But alas,there was a glitch in the gen one games if the user's maximum HP stat was 256 or 511 and it was 1 less than that,rest would fail.

Ah, I thought that worked differently. I thought it was "when you have exactly 256 or 511 hp and try to use a recovery move, it would fail".
