In single player. I'll use what I want, in multiplayer I'll be more cautious of the meta but try to take some liberties

I have two Greninjas, one with protean and one that's shiny. I always use the shiny online despite it performing worse. It has costs me a few games but I don't really mind.

Combination of both. I do use meta teams, but I'll almost always try to make my favorite Pokemon fit into them. My Pokemon tend to become favorites based on how well they've served me in battle anyway.

since breeding and training are so fast now I just train everything and try to find at least niche sets for the crappy ones

If I want to win I have actual serious business teams and if I want to mess around I have hp ice maractus and tail wind lumineon

But my favorites are all competitively viable, granted having them all on one team gives me a huge Fire/Dark weakness
