Growlithe seem super common here (not Pidgey/Rattata common, but they pop up Nearby all the time), but I've only caught a single Vulpix, seen two Ponyta, and caught one single Charmander. That's it.

You'd think the pier would be teeming with water types, espcially the lure that is litteraly 10 feet from the water right?

Nope, fucking drowsee and route 1 shit everywhere.

And even if you do find water types, it's always gay shit like goldeen or magikarp, which is fine if you want to catch 101 of them for a gyarados.

4 solid days of walking that route for multiple hours has gotten me barely enough candies for a golduck, now I just need to wait until I get a good psyduck.

I've caught like 4 poliwag and 8 tentacool in that time as well, game is so fucking biased towards "urban" pokemon even if you a coastal town it hurts.

Lets just forget about the fact that you can't find any fire types or anything really cool because the spawns are so sparse out of the town that you can't even go on a "hunt" for anything "exotic".

Then factor in the lack of scanners or even a working nearby function in the game and I'm about done with it.

My friends think I'm crazy for shitting on the game getting worse and worse with every update, they'll keep playing it and having "fun" throwing balls at cp 20 pidgeys until sun and moon come out I expect.

I know how you feel. I lost interest in gyms after getting absolutely bamboozled by the battling system, so I've made it my goal to just collect everything instead, though primarily I'm wanting to get/evolve my old LeafGreen team. Is anyone else having issues like mine? This has happened since yesterday after the update, which is weird because my game has been fully functional since release date.

Every time I try to log in to my Google account, it authenticates, and then skips the loading screen to go straight to the typical server issues error screen. It won't ever do anything else.

I'm also sure it's an issue with the game on my phone, and not my account. I've tried other accounts on my phone, and they won't work, and I've successfully tried my account on a friend's phone. It's just like suddenly my game client is not letting me play.

I have an IPhone 5S. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as shutting my phone off and on, to no avail. pls help thanks

This is correct, Niantic has special preference with Japan given their Ingress fans over there are very concentrated compared to everywhere else. That is why they always hold events in Japan and make Japan only exclusives a constant thing.

The only other place that gets remotely close to the same preference is California, since its where their HQ is based in. That is until they finally decide to move over to Japan entirely and become a Japanese company.

It's not so much that Nintendo is making/not making money from GO rather than the fact that one of their biggest IP's is getting globally tarnished in the public eye. Nintendo will likely step in at some point if Niantic does not pull some kind of damage control to save GO from being universally hated.

Everyone that's followed the series and has half a brain knows that the series has slowly been stagnating for years, with BW (arguably) being the only real bright spot. The Maingame was great when comparing to the other generations' first mainline games. BW was a straight line. D/P was Gamefreak getting a D+ in handling 3D Graphic rendering and is borderline unplayable nowadays compared to literally every single other game, including the ones before it. R/S were about equal to XY in postgame content, but had pacing issues in the maingame, especially once you hit the 5th gym. Gen 2 was great overall honestly for the time. Gen 1 started it all, but doesn't have much beyond that. Especially if you play the virtual console releases and see how dated it is conceptually.

The biggest thing was that Platinum fixed most of D/P's issues, Emerald expanded heavily on R/S, and BW2 saved Unova's region(along with that sweet PWT).

XY had some good concepts going in. The models look nice, albeit the colors could use some work. The environments are well designed, and a lot of people praise the game from the first gym until Korrina and Mega Evolutions are introduced.

Before GO was a thing Niantic made their connection with Japan via Ingress. It became such a favored hit over there that Niantic went out of their way with giving them exclusive events, benefits and even in game items only obtainable IN JAPAN. Making company tie ins with the game IN JAPAN.

Irrelevant. As I said before Pokemon's original hype was around Gen1/2 where it became fucking culture defining for its time. After that the series may have still went on and sure there may have had its continuing support of fans to the series but nothing was nearly as big in terms of Pokemon being popular in the public eye than in the Late 90's/Early 2000's.

GO basically taps that original generation. Those who were fans in the 90's/Early 2000's that loved the games/series/culture but have moved on since. GO brings them back to the game and makes it so that they have reason to want to play again. Not needing some kind of special handheld console and focusing on using Smartphones creating a wider more accessible audience with the primary focus to get all the fans old and new back into the game regardless of how old you are.

I mean you clearly do not understand that we are not talking about the diehard fans who existed from Gen1 and continued to buy every single game/handheld since. I am talking about the GLOBAL POPULACE that has become invested in this game again. No one cares about the niche groups, only the large ones that make enough of an outcry that it can make or break your public image and company.

Well just look at the metacritic scores (87) and compare them to past titles. The sales are as low as 14 million, the lowest in the franchise. Also fan negativity? Just look at /v/, /vp/ or any other Pokemon board, people were angry at the fewer mons than usual, lack of post game content and forced mega evolution mechanic.

Several people will disagree entirely with that every single day with you that BW, D/P, and R/S were all terrible.
Even within /vp/, most people wouldn't rate the game below like a 7/10 because at its base, it's still a Pokemon game that didn't do anything wrong for a Pokemon game. 30 FPS in battle is still better than the sections where you got fucking sub-15 FPS in D/P. People complained about some of BW's animations as much as XY's flying ones. Water in region design of R/S is still a goddamned meme to this day.

is there a scale on how much stronger the gym pokemon are than your own? I just fought a 1705 CP dragonite with my own 2218 CP dragonite and barely won simply due to being able to attack more.

It really depends on the moves. For example your Dragonite might be having Steel wing as it's main attack, while the Gym's had a dragon-typed attack, which both gets a STAB and Super Effective damage.

Some moves are just straight up better as well and this last update made special attacks stronger.

I just got back from my local park.

Lots of gyms there.. I tried to take over many of them, except that for two (2) fucking times, some assholes would put their pokemon as soon as I dethroned the last team. They were just waiting there for me to dethrone the gym so they could put their as soon as they could.

Why hasnt Niantic fixed this shit? This is seriously the first time in years I've gotten mad over a videogame. It's just pure bullshit.
There is no reward to taking over a gym. There's a reward for loitering around one and then take it from whoever is taking it over though.

The gym belonged to Valors. I (Instinct), took it over. Well, as soon as the gym went grey, those assholes put their pokemon back in there before I could. Even though I rightfully took it over.

I'm not preventing anyone from playing. But if I took the effort to take over the gym, the game should give me priority to put my mons in there, not just some random opportunist assholes that happened to be quicker than me.

I'm not sure if simply summing Def and HP makes sense for ranking; Snorlax has about 2/3 the HP but 3x the Def. It depends how Def actually affects damage calculations.

Attack power is also important for defense, since you want to FAINT the attacker's team to reduce gym rank loss. A better ranking scale would probably be "How much damage can the defending Pokemon inflict before going down?"

1. You have to pay for a game shark, while anyone can scan for free.
2. Game sharks inject additional information into the game. Scanners merely interpret the same information sent to your game in a different way. If Niantic didn't want people to scan for pokemon, they shouldn't have their API set up so that the client is trusted not to show off that information.

And they really shouldn't trust pokemon fans to follow their rules anyways. We're the ones who drove game shark sales in the first place. Missingno gave us the taste of blood, and we wanted more. These days, game sharks are gone, but we have injecting, and it's pretty much been revealed that nearly all of the winners at VGC tournaments have injected pokemon.

I stand by my point, Nintendo is terrible when it comes to online, yes, but Niantic is "university dude starting the project as a school project" tier. They are even worse.

Also I'd like to know exactly how muh "input" they have, that's something I'm honestly curious about since the very beginning since the game is very strange for something Nintendo-related when you compare it to the previous things they did like the pokewalker. We'll never know, I guess.

Let's say I have a Pikachu and it's IV's go from 75%-84. Then Step 4 tells me to add the new value with the Power up value True. Do I have to spend 1 Pikachu candy ingame then add the data or I'm I not understanding something? Thanks.
