Last generation we got the lowest number of new Pokemon because Gamefreak focused on designing so many new Megas. Will we get a low new amount again thanks to Regional Variants? Will we get ANY Megas in favor of Regional Variants?

Megas are imbalanced garbage.

Alola forms are rebalanced and repurposed older 'mons with completely separate stats, abilities and movepools. They are "new pokemon" in all ways but being original designs.
