With the exception of Sylveon, I think Gamefreak's been trying to move away from those.

Why?
They where great and it was fun to see an old pokemon gaining a new evolution or pre-evolution.
Do people hated cross evos back in GEN IV?

Final forms getting an evo was forever prohibited by the existence of eviolite because of gamefreak's retarded fear of changing stuff.

Only possible thing is new alternate evos, but even that is unlikely, seeing sylveon was the only one in gen 6 and its existence only had for purpose to showcase a new type.
