Emerald completely re-coded the overworld double battle system so you can enter a double battle just by running into two otherwise normal trainers at once, and you can theoretically enter 6v6 battles (though I can't remember any trainers in-game positioned for such, closest would be the multi battle in Mossdeep against Maxie and Tabitha where they use six Pokémon and Steven assists you with three).
I will never understand why ORAS went back to the RS model when DP, BW, and even XY adopted the Emerald model. It's like how FRLG prevented you from evolving your Golbat until postgame except with a much larger impact.
Also, I know it's because of dumb Europoor laws, but it's still a flaw to not replace it with anything at all.
I do agree that the game as a whole is just mediocre rather than being completely shit like XY, I just took issue with anon claiming no Frontier was the only flaw.
