Considering the main drama is the tracker shit, I don't know if you can call fucking it up so much as refusing to communicate.
I still believe tracking was intentionally disabled to lighten server load, and fair enough, people hated when they couldn't get in at all and there's a ton of people playing.
If they would just confirm this, say if it's permanent or not, and give updates, I don't think the backlash would be nearly as bad.

After all, some of those people believe certain gen 2 pokemon belong in gen 1 (Ho-oh, Snubbull, Marill, Togepi, etc.) and Gold/Silver hit right in the middle of Pokemania.

Pokemania died after yellow nigga. After that the craze died down and Pokemon remained the only reason to buy their handhelds. But it in no way was '-mania' tier. Everyone that was around for the launch of red and blue, and the beginning of the anime all followed up to yellow. Then we all grew up, and only the 'serious' kids kept up with gen2 and on.

This is from 4 states in 2 US regions, in a total of 6 schools between yellow, and gen2-3.
