Seen people talking 'bout more than 4 but no link to explain it.

After reading this, i think this trial and the original gyms aren't that different. There are 4 trials, which each end in a boss fight, a totem pokemon from one of the 4 captains. After you complete one trial, you can fight de Island Kahuna, the first being hala with his tapu koko.

After the 4 islands you have faced 8 'boss battles', or gyms, as they were called before. Now the question is, will there be a elite four and a champion after that?

There's more than one per island, as the Japanese website confirms that there is more than the 4 we've seen.
its likely either 2 or 4 per island.

Yeah so I read it, and seems like there will be 16 captains with 4 per islands (each gives one arrow, since they all give the up arrow with a different colour) and 4 Kahunas Leads, adding to that the totems pokemon
