I like what they did with bw, but I think it would be an error to do it again. There was a ton of backlash and while people seem to like the Pokémon now, it's still rather controversial. If they had a gen that introduced maybe 130 ish Pokémon and included 50 or so old ones, then I think it would be pretty cool. I don't like the huge regional dexes we've been getting lately, I liked it better when I could pretty much memorize everything on a route just by visiting there a few times.

Say what you will about XY, but in gen 6 and 7 we get new mechanics like mega evolutions and new forms to spice up the old pokemon PLUS new pokemon, albeit not as many. but it's the better deal

God no. It might have had lots of new Pokemon but most of them were terrible ugly shits. I'd rather have 70-80 new mons that are mostly good designs like gen 6 than have 150 new ones with filler mons such as Cryogonal, Heatmor and others I don't remember atm.

Silver's arc is fleshed out and well executed though, at least by Pokemon standards.

He starts out as a violent and harsh person, and stays firm in his belief until he gets his ass handed to him by Lance, at which point he starts to question himself and goes through a phase of confusion and denial as visible in the Mahogany Rocket hideout, Goldenrod underground and Victory Road battles.

Past that he begins to really change for the better as you can tell not only by his dialogue but also the fact that his Golbat evolves into Crobat (which requires high happiness) and he has his starter out walking with him in Dragon's Den.

And let's not forget the Celebi event which game him a tad more backstory and explains how he initially became so harsh, why he made it a goal to become a single powerful trainer, and why he hates Team Rocket.

I beat the elite 4 with my shitperier, and my other 5 good Pokemon. At level 40ish.
I thought I was done. Fuck no, gotta finish some cynthia woman.

I stomped her into the ground with level 40s. And said, well, I'm done here.

Would it have been fun? Yes.

Should they have left me the fuck alone and told my rivals to pop up like a normal rival, not blindside me, force me to fight, fight with me, don't even fight, or just stops me for a few boring minutes to say hi.

Ugggh, wish it could have been fun.

Now gen 1 was boring, but at least blue had the decency to show up, battle, then fuck off.

Gen2 same thing, only more fun

Gen3 perfect, fun, rival was scarce.

Gen4 hold up, wait

Gen5 GUIZE, what are you doing.

Gen6 fuck me...god damnit..there are like 9 rivals. I don't even know their names. Girl, girl #2 girl #3 boy, other boy. Etc. Etc. Fuck it.
