Hey. I'm replaying Heart Gold for old time's sake. I want an interesting starter to use instead of the usual choices. Should I go for a Sentret?

I think you can catch Phanpy early on. Go with that. Also, Zubat and Gastly are anoying to raise early on, but holy fuck if Crobat and Haunter aren't worth your time, you have some shit taste.

Literally everybody and their mother has used Shitreep. It's just as overused as the starters in a given playthrough, and OP wants to try something different.

I would go for another fire, water or grass type. Great choices that are available early is Growlithe, Wooper and Bellsprout respectively.

Geodude, if you're going to have a second game to trade for evolution into Golem.
