Could this be the secret the starters and Rockruff hold? If you think about it Gamefreak is really separating each island making them their own thing. They have their own Legendary (Guardians), own Dex, own Pokémon, own Champion (Kahuna), and own Elite 4 (Trial Captains). Even that new bird that was revealed has its own forms based on the island it came from. That would be 4 evolutions for Rowlet, Litten, Popplio, and Rockruff and if the leak is correct, these forms will take up a single slot

Keep in mind that it not only references Alola Forms, it also mentions the whole VC transfer thing, and a Cat with a special type based gimmick which where included in the other leak that was recently confirmed

Couldn't they be referring to Kahunas and/or Trial Captains? Who knows how they got the info in the first place. They could be confused and think everything is a gym leader.
