It's convenience, you catching a Pokemon isn't a thing related to skill since you will inevitably catch it unless it can flee or kill itself. This just removes the time required to catch it.

It's convenient for situations like Deoxys where you couldn't save before or when you just can be bothered with spending some time to catch a pokemon.

I stubbornly catch everything in normal Pokeballs, so the only thing it ever catches is dust.
