>>27531737Well for starters, if we're talking DPP, they introduced little in the way of genuinely new features. Physical-Special split, while major, was just about the only genuinely new feature. The Wi-Fi Plaza and GTS are the next things worth mentioning, but that's just about it. Everything else was either bringing back and expanding on concepts from Johto or Kanto.
Overworld is incredibly dull. Having played Platinum recently, I was astonished by how it's constantly praised as having a comfy region in Sinnoh, but I found all the routes to look remarkably same-ish. Same caves, same trees, same grass, unlike what is to be found in Unova. HGSS managed to have intriguing overworlds given the style, color pallet, atmospheric sounds, and general route layout.
Honey trees were implemented downright terribly. The game is slow. The PC is clunky. Some music is great (Eterna), some (Hearthome) makes me turn the volume all the way down.
What they did with Contests is dumb, even if accessories are cool.
Other than that, the games are good.
