Well, I know for certain it won't be the Fire starter, I already had my run with those, especially Fire/Fighting ones, even if it ends up Fire/Dark, wew. Wishing good luck to those who want a Fire/Dark though.
I was initially a Rowlett picker because he just struck me as cute, but then I grew awfully fond of Popplio and had in mind a playthrough with a male one because I never picked a Water starter before and wanted to give it a try.
so much for picking a male, I guess and I don't exactly feel like going through the trouble of soft-resetting just to get a Popplio that looks like its gender when the final evolution comes. I could give less of a fuck about its gender being male with that kind of a design but as much as I try to, the extra details in the mermaid kind of breaks the deal here for some reason. Maybe if it were simpler. The funny thing is, I'm used to guy character designs who might as well be women in the end in my animu.
Owl's cool, albeit a bit too cramped? I might get back to him, but he seems like he has too many things standing out in its design. It's a bit weird. Like, he's cool, but at the same time, he could have also gotten a simpler look? It's strange to think this came out of Game Freak considering their starter evolutions usually look very simple and traditional looking. These seem like they were trying for something else, to put in as many details as possible when they don't feel all that necessary.
It's weird how hesitant I am about these, considering previous starter evolutions, who were a easy pick and which I'd be able to pick those who I haven't picked for a second playthrough to give them a try. I just don't feel the same about these, excluding the owl, who is kinda okay-ish.
