No one seriously believes that GF based Gumshos on Trump, but like it or not it looks like him. If there was a story about a guy in a bear costume kidnapping children tomorrow, Bewear would get the same treatment. It's a topical reference, nothing more.
It becomes a problem when the conversations inevitably turn to "Trump is right/Trump is wrong", but having all the autists go "It's a detective!" I so much more annoying than just pointing out that it looks like Trump.
