ok lads so i haven't played any pokemans since pokemon red in 2000 and now i wanna catch up and play each other gen.

i thought about getting these games, what am i missing and do you have any suggestions for swaps or games i should omit? i will play everything on a 3DS.

i have decided on the following order so far and already bought soulsilver with a pokewalker:

0. replay red
1. soulsilver
2. omega ruby
3. platinum
4. black
5. black 2
6. x

That's a good sampler. X or Omega Ruby might disappoint but they're also pretty easy so you should have no trouble making sure you get through.

That's pretty much the ideal games (version autism not considered) but you really shouldn't hop between gens like that.
Play them in release order, you may find older games to be too slow or clunky to your liking. Playing Plat after OR and SS is specially aggravating for some.
Instead of replaying Red, consider installing Menuhax and playing FireRed, it plays somewhat better.

Adding to that, I notice you put X after ORAS which is hardly ideal.
They're basically the same game but you are almost guaranteed to feel the lack of the extra megas or the Dexnav.
I understand you want to play them in gen order but consider not doing that.

so i would play them in chronological/release/gen order, but with the enhanced versions because i read that those are superior.

can you write a list for how you would suggest it with those games?

also should i get x or y? not really sure on that.

You're gonna ruin some of the games for yourself if you play them all. The order you should play them in is.

And then you must choose between X and Y or Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Whichever you play first will hurt your playthrough of the other. Trust me there's not enough new Pokemon in either of the games.

Do not play Black and White or Black and White 2. If you avoid these games it will make both X/Y and ORAS feel way more fun when you play them, You'll be encountering many more "New" pokemon you've never seen.

Release order is definetly the ideal way to play. Going to Platinum after Soul Silver (much less Omega Ruby) is a horrible idea.

does the pokedex grow continually step by step in the order i listed in op post?

another reason why i chose this order is because i dont want to have let's say 600 pokemon in omega ruby and then play platinum or soulsilver afterwards and only have 300 in each of those games

This is true about the new pokémon for me, having not seen them in White because I didn't make it very far at the time I hated the interface, strangely I enjoyed the interface of Y later without realizing it was just the same

Yep and missing Black and White isn't all that bad either because aside from the Pokemon it adds the characters are boring, The story has terrible pacing, There's a shitty gimmick to the biggest city in the game. It's just overall a skippable game especially when skipping it improves some of the best games in the series by a lot.

Not true, especially considering bw2 is going to be played right after. Those might be subjective opinions, but it's really great, especially once you get to Castelia city and beyond.

OP, I implore you to ignore this. Unlike most Pokémon games BW actually has an entertaining story. It's also one of the few games where the gym leaders get off their lazy asses and actually help you take down the evil team. It's definitely not one that should be skipped.
