I'm saying that Chronicles is canon, as is Legend of Thunder, but the movies are dubiously not, since the male protagonists' designs are often taken by Ash (Red, Lucas, Hilbert, Calem,) and game rivals that don't appear instead can have their characters mixed into an anime-original character like Paul, Conway, or Astrid.
Jimmy is and always has been canon. Ethan dubiously isn't. Same goes for Paul and Silver.
