What does /vp/ think about these games? I think the concept is interesting, but my god are they slow as fucking shit. Double battles are fucking cancerous

Colosseum is probably the worst pokemon game IMO
XD is a bit better since it fixes a few issues of the first one but hardly 'the best pokemon game ever'

Went to a retro game store yesterday and saw XD on display for i think it was either $60 or $80. the box art for it was shiny too. Didn't know that was a thing.

Didn't actually buy it because I bought Skies of Arcadia, Super Metroid, and Chrono Trigger instead ($65, $45, and $120 respectively) but I was curious why it would be that much? They didn't seem that amazing and I've seen people play through them.

My shitty Acer V5-431 runs Colosseum at an average of like 90% speed, never had any problems with the game
XD is unplayable for me though, i get like 60%

I'd imagine with a decent PC you should have no problems

I think perma-double battles are great, it's a little closer to a more traditional jrpg. it was even nice to utilize that feature where your next attack will still hit a switch-in after youve fainted the previous mon.

Pokemon Colosseum was one of the earlier games I played and I still love it. It still feels quite epic to me.

While XD fixed some of the gameplay issues, I feel it was weaker in terms of tone.

Also, jet motorcycles are way cooler than hover mopeds.

I haven't played Colosseum yet, but I loved Gale the first couple times I played through it. Plus I got two Psycho Boost Lugia out of it and a whole bunch of Pokemon with unique attacks. Sending them all up to Moon and I'm going to see what I can do with them.

I liked XD better, but I think I only played through it once. I played through Colosseum multiple times since it was relatively short and the only way to obtain Gen 2 Pokemon at that time. You also had a waifu in Colosseum, but didn't in XD.
